Yet Another Edition…
In case you’ve ignored the news (I’ve tried, but this one got through), Wizards of the Coast is starting work on another edition of D&D. They want player feedback and what not because they think it will be possible to make everyone happy.
Good luck with that…

Apologies to D&D Fans…
I didn’t mean to imply that you can’t roleplay with D&D. I was just musing that it seems that the implicit goal of the game is to collect cool stuff so that you can become invincible. I know that it is all play style. If you review My RPG History, you can see that I’ve played for quite some time (and quite a bit of it was D&D).
In Risus, cool stuff is available (Bonus Die Gear), but the system doesn’t seem to encourage a deep burning desire for more cool stuff.
Of course, it helps that in Risus you can bake all of the cool stuff you’d ever want right into your clichés (and you are only limited by your imagination and the conventions of the particular campaign you are playing).

I still think that Snikle summed up why Risus? pretty well.
